Anonymous asked: hey about your feminism post: modern day feminism IS extremely oppressive to men (ignoring them as rape/domestic violence victims as just one example) and it IS often the women's fault for not achieving high-level jobs (going after low-paying jobs, not being interested in sciences/business/politics - and there are actually a lot of women in high paying jobs). the other comments are problems, but just those two up there you might benefit from researching

for your first point, yes, that is a big problem. it stems from the masculine ideals that men are expected to follow and boys are expected to grow up following. however, in order to fully understand why these ideals are destructive to men, we do need to address the fact that they are not set up by feminists, but rather the patriarchy, which is exactly what we’re trying to fight. it’s a system that benefits no one, including men.

for your second point, i probably should’ve made myself clearer. in class we were specifically talking about employers who do not take women seriously, and, if given two applicants for a job, one male and one female, will hire the man, even if the woman is better suited for the job. in other words, cases where the woman herself is not to blame, but instead the reality of sexist employers.

i always do my research, but i probably should’ve made my points clearer there. whoops

actual things said by girls (GIRLS) today in sociology class discussing feminism

"i felt way more safe back when our prime minister was a man because i think most female leaders are just these uptight bitches who want control"

"feminism is extremely oppressive to men"

"why isn’t there an international men’s day? it’s called equality, so why are we focusing on women?"

"i know we’re trying to live in 2014 but i’d really rather live in the fifties or something because i do want a man to hold the door for me and pay the check on dates"

"if there aren’t enough women in high job positions, it’s their own fault for not fighting for it"

"i think gender equality is dangerous to our society"
